The fight against illegal content on the Internet has a long tradition at eco. From the very outset, youth protection has been an important part of the eco Complaints Office’s assessment standard.
The eco Complaints Office was established on the initiative of our member companies in 1996 and can now look back on more than 25 years of expertise in this field. Our members as well as external companies can benefit from this long-standing expertise, in addition to our legal skills in the evaluation of online services. These extra services offered by the Complaints Office are of particular benefit to companies.

Youth Media Protection Expert Lunch
With the Youth Media Protection Expert Lunch, we provide an open forum two to three times a year for association members active in the area of youth protection to share experiences and information and to start a dialogue with us and other members.
eco Youth Protection Officer Service
The lawyers of the eco Complaints Office support providers of online services to safeguard the protection of minors in producing, acquiring, planning, and designing their content and in all decisions related to youth media protection.
Information for Telemedia Providers
Developmentally-impairing content may only be distributed under certain conditions. Telemedia providers must ensure, for example, that children and adolescents of the relevant age groups do not normally see or hear such content (Section 5 (1) German Interstate Treaty on the Protection of Minors in the Media - JMStV).
