From 21 to 26 October, important decisions regarding the development of the Internet will be made in Hamburg. Hosted by the eco Association, DENIC eG and the Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg, the event expects approximately 2,500 international visitors from research, the tech community, politics, business and civil society.
From 21 to 26 October, Hamburg will be the centre of the Internet community: the 78th conference of ICANN (Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers) will be held at the Congress Center Hamburg (CCH).
The Internet is largely self-governing, independent of individual companies or governments. Three out of four Germans (73.9%) concur with this statement: “Independent governance of the Internet is important for the freedom of information and the freedom of expression in our society”. At the ICANN78 AGM from 21-26 October 2023, an independent multi-stakeholder community will make decisions on core functions of the Internet.
