Together for the Good of the Internet

77 percent of IT experts in Germany estimate that the general threat to Internet security is growing. This is a key finding of the eco IT Security Survey 2021. eco has been publishing this study annually since 2010, and surveyed 175 experts from the IT industry for this purpose this year.

Against the backdrop of the attacks against email servers that have recently been reported, eco – Association of the Internet Industry recommends that companies put their own emergency planning and patch management to the test. According to the eco IT Security Study 2021, published in English today, 88 percent of the companies surveyed by eco describe patch management as a very important topic in their security strategy.

ICANN’s Office of the CTO offers the course, “DNS for ISPs”, a fast-paced, intense two-hour webinar covering myriad topics of DNS configuration and DNS security and monitoring intended for network engineers who are operating a service provider network. Topics include the benefits and challenges of operating open vs. closed DNS resolvers, best practices for operating a DNSSEC-validating resolver, discussions of encrypted DNS protocols like DNS-over-HTTPS and DNS-over-TLS, introducing the concept of running your own local copy of the root zone, reverse DNS considerations, and a discussion about the confluence of routing security (RPKI) with DNS operations.

“As a digital association, the promotion of women and diversity is a key issue for eco in order to ensure the future viability of Germany as a digital location,” says Oliver Süme, Chair of the eco Association.
