Gaming: During her visit of the world’s biggest gaming event gamescom in Cologne, Executive Vice-President for Tech Sovereignty, Security and Democracy Henna Virkkunen said that Europe was at the forefront of the gaming sector. She also stated that some internationally popular video games had been made in Europe, and that the European industry’s innovative potential continued to infuse the broader economy with ever-newer technological applications.

AI: The European Commission has started using its new AI Act enforcement powers by ordering information on cybersecurity, safety and copyright compliance from developers of AI models, including some developers of the “most advanced” AI models.

Transatlantic relations: Meta’s settlement with 47 U.S. states regarding the protection of minors has prompted former EU Commissioner Thierry Breton to call on the enforcement of the Digital Services Act. According to Thierry, 9 out of the 12 measures to be implemented over the next 10 years are covered by the DSA.
