Across Germany, the extent to which informatics lessons are taught varies considerably from state to state. The recently founded “German Alliance for Informatics Education” aims to overcome this discrepancy and is committed to ensuring that all pupils benefit from Informatics Education across the board.

At the kick-off of the newly founded education initiative the day before yesterday, eco’s Managing Director Alexander Rabe emphasised: “The alliance is an important step towards advancing digital education in Germany. We must ensure that pupils have access to modern IT education regardless of where they live.”

Dr Katharina Weitz, Vice President of the German Informatics Society, also emphasised the need to reach all pupils with informatics lessons. The aim of the German Informatics Alliance is to pool expertise and provide information in order to convince decision-makers in politics and education administration of the need for concrete didactic concepts. Providing hardware alone is not enough.

The German Alliance for Informatics Education brings together companies, organisations and initiatives that want to work together to promote informatics education in Germany. A steering committee of experts from science and industry steers the initiative. Further information is available on the official (German-language) website of the German Alliance for Informatics Education.
