AI: As part of the “Digital Europe” programme, the European Commission is making a total of €63.2 million available across seven calls for proposals to support AI innovation in the areas of health, digital health, digital skills, online safety, as well as the deployment and use of transformative digital technologies. The calls for proposals close on 1 October 2026.
AI: Politico reports on attempts to define the term “intimate parts” in the context of the ban on artificial intelligence that generates nude images.
AI: A group of 10 European countries is opposing a proposal to shift products such as machinery and medical devices partly out of the scope of the bloc’s flagship AI law.
Technological sovereignty: Politico reports on European efforts to reduce dependence on US technologies, as well as the difficulties encountered in doing so.
