On the occasion of the “G7 Multi-Stakeholder Conference on the Digital-Environment Nexus”, alongside Digital Minister Volker Wissing, eco’s Managing Director Alexander Rabe will moderate the breakout session “Role of Data Centres: an integral component for sustainable and climate-neutral digitalisation?”. This will take place on 30 November at 12:30 pm.
In advance of this occasion, eco’s Managing Director Alexander Rabe has the following to say: “I am very much looking forward to organising this breakout session at the conference together with Paolo Bertoldi, an energy efficiency expert with the European Commission and alongside representatives of the Alliance for the Strengthening of Digital Infrastructures in Germany – including Volker Ludwig, Jake Oster and Dr. Béla Waldhauser. This is a great opportunity to draw attention to the critical importance of this industry for the digital transformation of the economy and society, and to work together to create the right framework conditions for a sustainable digital future.”
Both advancing digitalisation and environmental issues are challenges on a global scale that the G7 wants to more fully address as part of the international community. Digitalisation has the potential to unlock solutions to environmental and climate challenges. It is therefore essential to have views exchanged on key topics and policy approaches in order to better harness this potential for environmental and climate protection, an objective spelt out in the “G7 Multi-Stakeholder Conference on the Digital-Environment Nexus”.
Registration for the session is now open here.
In order to raise awareness of the importance of digital infrastructures in Germany and to enter into a constructive dialogue with policymakers, leading companies from various sectors of digital infrastructures such as data centre operators, colocation providers, Internet service providers, carriers, cloud providers, software manufacturers and representatives from the application industry have joined forces under the umbrella of eco – Association of the Internet Industry to form an Alliance for the Strengthening of Digital Infrastructures in Germany.
