Hearing on German Act on the Protection of the Constitution: Politicians must not simply wave through State Trojans

The Bundestag Committee on the Interior and Home Affairs will deal with the draft law on the amendment to the Act on Protection of the Constitution in a public hearing on Monday, 17 May from 12 noon. eco explicitly warns against the consequences of lawful interception at the source and the use of spying software.

eco Association on the German BND Act: State Hacking Would Endanger IT Security

The current draft of the BND Act by the German Federal Chancellery is set to give the German Federal Intelligence Service permission to access inventory, traffic and content data without the knowledge of the operator in question. The eco Association warns of the consequences of such a regulation for general IT security and judges the draft as being unconstitutional.

According to the draft, the German Federal Intelligence Service (BND) is to be given permission to hack providers abroad in order to obtain inventory, traffic and content data. eco – Association of the Internet Industry sharply criticises this initiative and has delivered a statement on the draft act.
