Expansion of the Competencies of German Security Authorities: eco Calls for Precise Protective Measures and a Public Debate

The German Bundestag is currently debating two draft laws that would grant extensive powers to the German Federal Criminal Police Office (BKA), the federal police and the German Federal Office for Migration and Refugees (BAMF). Klaus Landefeld comments: “(...) new competencies for security authorities must always be accompanied by effective protective measures. This is the only way to maintain society’s trust in modern technologies, especially AI.”
