Webinar: The Future of Encryption in the EU
Encryption plays a vital role in increasing the overall trust in the Internet. The European Commission has put encryption high on the agenda of EU policymakers, with ongoing files such as the Digital Services Act and the ePrivacy Regulation as well as recent CJEU rulings highlighting encryption as a critical enabler of privacy and data protection. Nonetheless, some governments have recently called on companies to create backdoors to their encrypted devices and services to provide law enforcement with exceptional access.
This webinar, joined by eco Vice Chair of the Board Klaus Landefeld, will bring together leading EU policymakers, civil society, industry, and other relevant stakeholders to discuss latest developments as well as the future trends concerning encryption in the EU. The keynote speech will be given by the European Data Protection Supervisor, Wojciech Wiewiórowski.
