The Finalists for the 19th eco://awards

On November 26, 2020, the eco Association will once again present one of the most prestigious awards in the Internet industry. In six award categories, a jury of experts with representatives from business, science, research or politics selected the three most promising submissions in each case. An award will be given to an inspiring female specialist and manager in the German Internet industry. Here are all the nominations:

Data Centre Infrastructure

These concepts and tools for data centres and infrastructures set their sights far into the future: The nominated companies help to operate digital Internet infrastructures and data centres in an ever better way. The finalists are:

Green Mountain Data Center AS, for highly secure, innovative, energy-efficient and sustainable colocation data centres in Norway, operated with 100 percent renewable energy

Infinera GmbH, for data centre coupling using ICE6, which allows data volumes to be transferred over long distances with minimized energy consumption

SDC SpaceNet, for one of the most modern high-security data centres in Germany, located in the east of Munich

Security

They don’t give cyber criminals a chance: The companies nominated for the eco://award IT security increase the cyber-resilience of their customers with exceptional IT services and products.

Rohde & Schwarz cybersecurity GmbH, for R&S®Trusted VPN Client. The centrally-managed, software-only VPN client ensures the secure connection of mobile workstations to the company or authority network

SoSafe GmbH, for its Customization Engine for tailor-made IT security training

The IT service offerings nominated for the category Cloud & Hosting offer exceptional quality, security, interoperability and performance. The nominees use innovative IT concepts to ensure the successful digitalisation of business processes – with maximum user-friendliness.

Internet with Responsibility

Among the nominees for the eco://award “Internet with Responsibility”, aspects oriented towards the common good outweigh corporate added value. In this way, these companies have demonstrated a high sense of social responsibility.

ADDIX Internet Services GmbH, for the Corona Warning Band (CWB), which allows people without smartphones to participate in the containment of the pandemic

Leaseweb Deutschland GmbH, for its global network with responsibility, which takes European regulations into account in all processes

Microsoft Deutschland GmbH, for Code your Life & IT-Fitness, an online academy for pupils and teachers with free coding webinars

By the time of the award ceremony on 26 November, the expert juries will have selected the winners from all nominees. The decisive factor is the uniqueness and innovation of each submission, as well as its reach and implications for the industry. In the LiT-Award, everyone was able to participate in the decision-making process, up until 15 October, through voting. In November, the eco Association will roll out the virtual red carpet. Even as a purely online event, the eco://award 2020 stands for a festive atmosphere and high excitement.
