- After 28 years, Harald A. Summa, is retiring from the operational management of the association
- Alexander Rabe and Andreas Weiss will share the management responsibilities of Europe’s leading Association of the Internet Industry from 1 August 2023
After 28 years, the founder and longstanding CEO of the eco Association of the Internet Industry, Harald A. Summa, is stepping down from operational management.
“These years have been incredibly exciting, witnessing the development of an industry from its inception and being able to contribute to the growth of the Internet industry in Germany! I am very proud that, together, we have established the groundwork for digitalisation in Germany and Europe, and I look to the future with a great sense of optimism,” says Harald A. Summa.
The eco Board is expressly grateful to the go-getter behind eco for his dedication and commitment over more than two decades and will propose that he be elected as Honorary President at the Annual General Meeting.
Alexander Rabe and Andreas Weiss, two experienced executives, are taking over the management of the Association of the Internet Industry, which was founded in 1995. Alexander Rabe has already been sharing the management responsibilities with Harald A. Summa since January 2018. He joined eco in 2016 as Head of the Policy, Law & Regulations Division and managed the capital city representative office and the Brussels branch for the association in this role. Andreas Weiss has been a member of eco’s Managing Board since 2018, Head of Digital Business Models and, together with Harald A. Summa and Alexander Rabe, Managing Director of eco Service GmbH since 2020.
“Today’s generational change in our association has been prepared meticulously and for a long time. We are delighted that we can now execute this transition with the new management duo, Alexander Rabe and Andreas Weiss, while also undergoing an eco internal reorganisation of the business and responsibility areas,” says eco Chair of the Board Oliver Süme. “This means that the association is structurally and personnel-wise fit for the future and is optimally positioned to reposition itself in a highly dynamic market and topic environment. As a result, it emerges as a robust partner for its more than 1,000 member companies in the digital industry, while also serving as a reliable and competent point of contact for politics,” Süme continues.
