eco Association Supports Mobility Data Space

eco Chair of the Board Oliver Süme: “Sovereign data exchange is key to future-proofing European mobility ecosystem”

eco Chair of the Board Oliver Süme is a member of the newly founded Mobility Data Space Expert Council, which will be presented this week at the ITS World Congress in Hamburg.

“The mobility of the future is digital and connected,” says Oliver Süme, adding that the mobility sector is a prime example of how traditional industries can transform themselves with the help of digitalisation in order to meet major challenges such as climate change, but also growing global competitive pressure. “The Mobility Data Space is the right answer in a dramatically changing market. Interconnection, data sovereignty and common standards are the success factors for a cross-sector and cross-border mobility ecosystem that can hold its own in international competition and promote innovative services and products,” Süme continued. The platform enables access to data and technology via appropriate interfaces and common standards, which is a critical success factor for digitalisation in Germany and Europe and thus fulfils the basic idea of the European data infrastructure project Gaia-X, the implementation of which eco – Association of the Internet Industry is driving forward as part of the coordination of the Gaia-X Federation Services.
