- Legally compliant email marketing within the EU GDPR will be a focal topic of the CSA Summit on 19-20 April 2018
- International experts will offer an outlook on technical innovations that are revolutionizing email marketing
The declaration of consent of email recipients is the basis for legally compliant email marketing. This will apply in particular from 25 May 2018 – on this date, the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) will enter into force throughout Europe. Many companies are now asking how a declaration of consent needs to be formulated in order to be GDPR-compliant – given that the new regulation provides for fines of up to 20 million EURO for infringements. There is no cause for panic, however, says Director of the CSA, Julia Janßen-Holldiek: “In Germany, the requirements for legal consent will not change significantly”. The six most important principles for a GDPR-compliant declaration of consent have been summarized by the CSA in a guideline, which can be downloaded here.
Exciting insights into legally-compliant email marketing and the international email marketing industry will be presented at the CSA Summit in Frankfurt from 18 to 20 April. About 120 email experts from 12 countries are expected to attend. Speakers will include representatives from industry leaders such as AOL Mail, 1&1, Microsoft, and Cisco Systems.
Expert tips for successful email marketing
What does the future of email look like and how are new email applications changing the behavior of consumers? As part of the Summit, experts on location will also discuss quality standards for successful email marketing. These include reputation-based filtering systems and authentication protocols which are becoming relevant for marketing.
Oliver Süme, Chair of the Board at eco – Association of the Internet Industry, will offer an overview of the current ePrivacy Regulation and its influence on electronic communication. The discussion group “GDPR 360°: Practical use cases for senders and recipients” will also provide legal background information for advertisers, email service providers, and Internet service providers.
Relevant content for more user interaction
“What is particularly important for successful email marketing is relevant content. But the legal and technical framework conditions must also be right; nothing is possible without compliance,” says Julia Janßen-Holldiek. These will therefore take center stage in the expert discussions at the Summit. A representative of Microsoft will report on new possibilities offered by branding in email marketing, while technical workshops – for example on the topic “schema.org” from 1&1 company experts – will point the way to paths for the marketing of tomorrow.
