Association of the Internet Industry on Current Court Decision: Strengthen Legal Clarity – Think Digitalisation in European Terms

From the perspective of eco – Association of the Internet Industry, the recent court decision brings important clarity to a central debate concerning the use of personal data in the context of AI training. At the same time, the association emphasises that uniform European regulations remain essential to enable innovation in Europe.

Oliver Süme, Chair of the Board of eco – Association of the Internet Industry, states: “Today’s decision is an important signal for greater legal clarity in dealing with AI and data. Europe now urgently needs harmonised standards that enable innovation and create trust. Only in this way can the digital Single Market function and Europe remain competitive internationally.”

The eco Association advocates for a binding, Europe-wide uniform interpretation of the GDPR that enables both the protection of personal data and the development of future-proof AI technologies.
