News, Publications and Consultations from the Past Week
News CW 44 30.10.2023 – 03.11.2023
Cyber Resilience Act: Initial progress has been made in the ongoing trialogue process. In particular, progress has been made on the regulation of open source software and the definition of a period during which manufacturers must guarantee security updates. A support period of 5 years is currently under discussion, with an exception for products that are likely to have a shorter life span. The question of how and who should deal with the reporting of cyber threats, including actively exploited vulnerabilities, has not yet been addressed. (Euractiv)
Artificial intelligence: According to a Euractiv report, competition in the European AI market is increasingly consolidating. Experts fear that the upcoming European Regulation on Artificial Intelligence will fail to prevent market abuse as it does not hold cloud providers sufficiently accountable. (Euractiv)
