Gigabit Infrastructure: The Gigabit Infrastructure Act (GIA) entered into effect on 12 November 2025. It aims to simplify complex procedures and accelerate the rollout of telecom networks.

Digital Omnibus: Politico and Euractiv report critical reactions to the planned changes relating to AI and data protection.

Democracy and civil society: The EU Commission has presented the European Democracy Shield and the EU Strategy for Civil Society. The Democracy Shield aims to improve the collective capacity to counter information manipulation and disinformation and to strengthen the resilience through a whole-of-society approach. The new European Centre for Democratic Resilience will bring together EU and Member States’ expertise and resources to provide a framework for information exchange and capacity building. The strategy aims to intensify cooperation between the European Commission and civil society and to support and protect the work of organisations. Politico reports on critical reactions.

Digital Skills: The European Digital Skills Awards were presented on Wednesday.

AI: Reportedly, the entry into force of the rules on high-risk AI systems is to be postponed by one year, until August 2027.
