EuroHPC: The European High Performance Computing Joint Undertaking (EuroHPC) has selected seven projects to establish Europe’s first AI factories. With an investment of 1.5 billion Euro, funded by national funds and the EU’s Digital Europe and Horizon Europe programmes, this will be a significant step towards building a European AI ecosystem. Cyber Resilience Act in force: The law obliges manufacturers to provide security updates and better support consumers in the event of security risks. More transparency regarding cyber risks should enable consumers to make more informed decisions. (COM)
CSAM: On 13 December, the Council adopted its position on a proposal to update EU’s criminal law provisions on the sexual abuse and sexual exploitation of children. The revised provisions expand the definition of criminal offences to ensure that all forms of child sexual abuse and sexual exploitation, including through online tools, are criminalised. (Council)
