European Parliament: All 20 standing committees and four subcommittees of the Parliament met on 23 July for their constituent meetings to elect their Chairs and Vice-Chairs. An overview of the new Chairs and Vice-Chairs can be found here. (EP)
Data protection: In a report published on 25 July, the European Commission identified problems with the enforcement of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and called for clearer guidelines to strengthen data protection in the Member States. According to the document, the various stakeholders would like to see more guidelines on anonymisation, pseudonymisation, legitimate interest and scientific research, among other things. (Euractiv)
