News CW 49 (04.12.2023-08.12.2023)

AI Regulation: Trilogue negotiations are still ongoing. After the trilogue negotiations on the European AI Act were brought to an abrupt halt due to the intervention of Germany, France and Italy, an agreement planned for 6 December was called into question. The negotiations are currently ongoing and it is unclear whether an agreement can be reached in the coming week.

eID Regulation: The ITRE Committee of the European Parliament approved the outcome of the trilogue on 7 December. The work on the eID Regulation is thus nearing completion. Approval is still pending from the plenary of the Parliament and the Council. The compromise reached was recently called into question once again, as the regulations on website certificates had been categorised as problematic.

Cyber Resilience Regulation: The third trilogue meeting on the Cyber Resilience Regulation took place on 30 November. According to reports, the trilogue parties reached a political compromise on the regulation. The extent to which specific details still need to be clarified in technical discussions is currently unclear.
