News CW 20 (12.05.2025-18.05.2025)

DSA: The EU Commission has made a preliminary view that TikTok’s advertisement repository does not fulfil with the requirements of the Digital Services Act.

DSA: The EU Commission has published draft guidelines on protection of minors online under the Digital Services Act. Feedback on the draft can be provided in public consultation until 10 June 2025.

AI: The European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO) has published a report on the development of generative artificial intelligence from a copyright perspective.

Cybersecurity: The EU Agency for Cybersecurity (ENISA) launches a vulnerability database to boost its digital security (European Vulnerability Database, EUVD).

Network expansion: Euractiv reports on a survey conducted by the EU Commission among leading EU telecommunications companies on whether tight financial restrictions imposed on banks following the financial crisis should be relaxed to boost investment in next-generation infrastructure.

Digital Partnership Council: The EU and Japan held their third Digital Partnership Council in Tokyo and signed a letter of intent on strengthening cooperation in the area of quantum science and technology.

Digital tax: According to Politico, the EU Commission is planning to introduce digital levies/taxes to be able to repay its post-Covid debt.

AI chips: The US lifts limitations on AI chips (Politico).

Social media: Euractiv reports that France, Spain and Greece are pushing the EU Commission to swiftly introduce an EU-wide age verification system and set a minimum age for social media access.
