The programme for the “GXFS Connect 2023 – Entering the next level” is online!

The GXFS Connect programme, which will take place on 5 and 6 September 2023 in Berlin, has now been finalised: Over the course of discussion panels, presentations and numerous networking opportunities, participants will exchange experiences and know-how – for example, on the Gaia-X funding and lighthouse projects, as well as on GXFS implementation strategies.

As GXFS Connect enters its second round at Berlin’s Villa Elisabeth, the now-published agenda highlights first-hand experience of how the implementation of Gaia-X Federation Services (GXFS) is progressing and how the establishment of the first Gaia-X federations is working successfully.

In the opening panel, the following panellists will discuss the current status of Gaia-X and the future of data-based value creation in Europe: Ernst Stöckl-Pukall, Head of Division “Digitalisation, Industry 4.0” at the Federal Ministry of Economics and Climate Protection (BMWK); Andreas Weiss, Managing Director of the eco Association; Roland Fadrany, COO of Gaia-X AISBL; and Susanne Dehmel from Bitkom.

In a deep dive session, participants will also learn what exactly the GXFS components offer for building Gaia-X ecosystems.

On-site open-source community

On the first day, an update on the open-source software (OSS) community will also be provided by experts, under the title: Who is driving Gaia-X forward on a technical level? Speakers will include XFSC Eclipse Lead Steffen Schulze, Kai Meinke, representative of the Gaia-X OSS Community and Cristina Pauna, Community Manager at Gaia-X AISBL.

Participants can also look forward to exciting project pitches that show how different projects integrate and use GXFS components in their technical concepts.

At the evening Gaia-X Roadshow event, powered by eco, the audience can then wind down the first day of the conference with drinks and finger food. In the late summer atmosphere, participants can look forward to informal networking with the Gaia-X community and reflect back on the day together.

GXFS implementation strategies in focus

On the following morning, the conference will be opened with two inspiring keynotes. Following on from this, participants will get an update on the activities of the different European hubs, with Jan Fischer, Head of the German Gaia-X Hub, exploring the question: What is the role of the Gaia-X hubs in supporting the development of data ecosystems?

This will be followed by the presentation of the Delta study on GXFS implementation strategies by Dr. Jens Böcker, who implemented the survey as part of the GXFS-DE project. In the connected panel, the audience will hear about Gaia-X projects, how the implementation of GXFS can succeed, and which challenges have to be jointly overcome. Moderator Vivien Witt from the eco Association will get to talk about this with, among others, representatives of the Gaia-X funding projects Marispace-X, Merlot and Gaia-X4ROMS.

The Chair of the eco Association, Oliver Süme from FieldFisher and Prof. Dr. Beatrix Weber from the Gaia-X project iECO will then discuss the legal issues surrounding Gaia-X, together with Pierre Gronlier, CTO Gaia-X AISBL. A discussion round in the afternoon will address the question: How does trust work between the participants of a digital ecosystem? Afterwards, live on stage, everyone will have the chance to experience and get to know European Gaia-X lighthouse projects such as Gaia-X 4 Future Mobility and EuProGiant.

GXFS Tech Workshop #3: Presentation of the GXFS FOSS Community

To round off the day and the conference, Lauresha Memeti from the eco Association will present the results of the parallel GXFS Tech Workshop #3, together with the participants. The workshop for programmers offers the opportunity to try out the GXFS components and to exchange ideas with the FOSS (Free and Open-Source Software) community around GXFS-DE.

“Let’s shape the data infrastructure of the future together – secure, open and transparent!” – under this motto, GXFS Connect 2023 will once again offer numerous opportunities for participants to network and engage in conversation.
