At its meeting on 24 June 2026, the German Federal Cabinet confirmed Oliver Süme, eco Chair, as a member of the Board of Trustees of the German Foundation for International Legal Cooperation (IRZ) for a further term.
Founded in 1992, the IRZ is an initiative of the German Federal Ministry of Justice and Consumer Protection (BMJV). Its remit is, on the one hand, to align national legislation with EU standards in cooperation with its partner countries and, on the other, to promote rule-of-law and market-economy structures, as well as the protection of human rights. In addition to its advisory role, the IRZ also organises expert exchanges, including through seminars, workshops and conferences, in order to make best practices more accessible.
The IRZ Board of Trustees brings together experts from the fields of justice, politics, academia and business. With their specialist expertise, members of the Board of Trustees support the Foundation’s work and help ensure that reform projects are implemented in a way that reflects actual needs and practical realities – a role that Oliver Süme will also fulfil over the next two years.
