At this month’s Conference of Ministers of Education and Cultural Affairs, the Bündnis für Bildung (Alliance for Education), which campaigns for the promotion of connected learning, launched a paper to stimulate discussion on the advancement of digital education during the new legislative term in Germany. This paper formulates recommendations for action to enable a rapid adaptation of the education system to digitalization. On behalf of eco, Andreas Weiss, Director of EuroCloud Germany, contributed his expertise to the paper’s development.
According to Weiss, “In order for schools to be able to realize concrete educational concepts for the future, they need first and foremost to be equipped with sufficient agility in their internal organization of digital identities, and in their use of multimedia content and collaboration services. At the same time, they also need low-cost, but secure access devices, not to mention suitably-dimensioned network access with sufficient bandwidth to the Internet.”
Bearing all of this in mind, Weiss goes on to note that the use of cloud services is indispensable. Knowledge which has already been gleaned by the private sector on integration, security requirements, data protection regulations, and interoperability formed an important basis for the tailored application to the field of education.
