The municipal Business Agency is inviting German ICT companies and multipliers to visit Vienna at the beginning of December. An interesting IT scene has developed there, as Werner Theiner, Head of the eco South Office, knows. In a short interview, he also reveals what awaits the participants in the metropolis on the Danube.
Mr. Theiner, the Vienna Business Agency has issued an invitation to German ICT companies and multipliers. What can the participants there expect?
An interesting IT scene has developed in Vienna, to which the Business Agency has made a significant contribution. In addition to exciting lectures, business networking will be in the foreground. Start-ups and existing companies can exchange information, offer each other stimulus, and sound out possible cooperation. The event is also sure to be exciting for investors, who can acquire an overview of the companies – and that in the second most beautiful city in the DACH (Germany, Austria, Switzerland) region.
In your view, why do you think Vienna and its companies in the fields of e-health, e-government, and security are so attractive?
These are the ultimate topics of the future. It is precisely in these areas that digitalization will make a big difference. As personal information is at stake in e-health and e-government, security processes become a crucial component. In Austria and especially in Vienna, the political framework conditions for start-ups are very appealing. As the gateway to the East, Vienna is also an important (second) location. For these reasons, Vienna is a young and dynamic city that attracts many international professionals.
And another little tip, if I may! On 25 January, we will also be addressing the topic of e-health as part of the Network Night. Together with Alfons Schuhbeck, IT companies, and other businesses, we will be discussing the subject of “Wie digital isst der Mensch?” which can be loosely translated as “How digitally are people eating?”. How did the contact with the Vienna Business Agency come about?
eco is always very pleased to be approached when it comes to getting to know domestic and foreign markets. As such, it was only natural that we be contacted by the Vienna Business Agency in this context. We are more than happy to work together with the extremely pleasant colleagues from Vienna.
In June, we are also planning a business networking rally, which will start in Vienna and wend its way through Munich, Frankfurt, and Dusseldorf. At each location, we will bring together high-ranking representatives from business, media, and politics.
