On Tuesday, 19 February 2025, the first meeting of the German Energy Board of the Data Institute took place. As a member of the board, eco’s Managing Director Alexander Rabe is overseeing the energy use case.
The energy use case is part of the planned Data Institute, which was initiated by the German federal government. The aim is to promote data exchange in the energy sector – an area with great economic and social potential. The German Energy Agency (dena) is leading the industry dialogue on this topic.
Digitalisation plays a key role in the energy transition. Photovoltaic systems, heat pumps and electric cars require a high-performance data infrastructure to work efficiently.
In its coalition agreement, the German federal government committed to better exploiting the potential of data use. To this end, the Data Institute is to be established as a central point of contact – an interdisciplinary competence centre that pools expertise. The energy use case is just one of several application areas.
