eco at the Inaugural Meeting of the “Education in the Digital Transformation” Section

On 17 May, the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) hosted the inaugural section meeting, “Education in the Digital Transformation”. In the section “Education in the Digital Transformation” of the BMBF Digital Summit Platform “Learning Systems | Digital Competences”, in which eco is also represented, projects and initiatives are to be developed that advance digitalisation in the education sector.

A diffuse fear of technology and a lack of media or digital skills often still stand in the way of a sustainable digital transformation of the education system in Germany. This is despite the fact that digital technologies and applications are certainly part of the solution for better education and, above all, for more participation and sustainability. The BMBF’s launch event for the Digital Summit 2023 addressed these significant challenges right at the beginning and outlined the potentials that need to be leveraged now.

The new Digital Summit platform “Learning Systems | Digital Competencies” brings together the more than 200 experts of the leading German AI network Plattform Lernende Systeme with experts from the former Digital Summit platform “Digital Future”. It thus addresses the great importance of data and AI competencies among the population, employees and researchers in order to make the best possible and responsible use of the key technology AI for society, the economy and science – and thus for Germany as a business location.

As part of the High Level Group, the eco Association is pleased to be able to actively support this process together with the German Federal Minister of Education, Bettina Stark-Watzinger.
