What contribution does digitalisation make to smart and safe buildings? Jens Möller, Head of Business Development at e-shelter security GmbH, talks about this in an interview.
Mr Möller, could you give us a brief introduction to your company, e-shelter security?
e-shelter security implements innovative security solutions to protect critical infrastructure, people, and assets. We create access control, video surveillance, perimeter and intrusion protection solutions through our many years of experience. We combine modern digital technologies (IoT) with innovative security technology and are committed to smart, secure and sustainable buildings.
Which digitalisation topics are particularly important to you?
For us, digitalisation means developing innovations that create added value and are sustainable. In doing so, we focus on the digitalisation of security technology and technical building equipment. Our smart building solutions create an end-to-end digital user experience. We enable safe and optimised building operation thanks to an intelligent platform with monitoring and automated usage and performance analysis. From automated access control to workspace and parking booking, as well as innovative office concepts, our end-to-end solutions ensure an intelligent building that functions efficiently and as autonomously as possible without compromising on physical security, for example in the areas of fire, intrusion and perimeter protection.
What are particular challenges in your industry now, and how are you working on them?
On the one hand, the increasing threats such as strife in Europe or cyber attacks are a major challenge for the security industry, as customers’ need for security is growing and we have to meet these demands. On the other hand, data protection plays a crucial role, since a large part of data processing now takes place over the Internet, which makes the IT infrastructure a vulnerable point of attack. We also found Covid-19 to be challenging because we see our goal as developing new digital and flexible models and further developing them together with our customers.
How do you expect your membership in the eco Association to support you in this regard?
We hope that membership in the eco Association will enable us to exchange information, help us identify trends and expand our network of contacts in the industry with new contacts and partnerships.
What opportunities does digitalisation offer us in the future?
Digitalisation will allow us to increase the efficiency of various processes and automate them in the future. This means that our customers can benefit from optimised processes and improve their workflows. This is particularly vital in the security industry, as digitalisation can provide a warranty of higher security. We also pursue this with our motto: “We digitise security”.
