1. Mr Leuzinger, could you give us a brief introduction to your company, global IP action AG?
We are a Swiss provider for the protection of intellectual property such as digital trademarks and domains, copyrights and patents. We protect intellectual property (IP) for our clients from criminal abuse on the Internet. Swisscom Venture, our equity partner, enabled us to develop a corresponding platform with the initial financing. With this, we offer protection to international groups, facilitate the administration, monitoring as well as the identification and warning of abuses of trademark rights.
2. Which digitalisation topics are particularly important to you?
Digital brand protection as our core business, of course, but also the security of domains and ERP applications. In short, we protect our customers from abuse and cybercrime on the Internet.
3. What are the special challenges of your industry at the moment and how do you work on them?
Of course, we would like to grow and winning new customers is always challenging. This applies above all to large corporations, but also to medium-sized companies. In addition, data protection in the monitoring business is difficult, as WHOIS information is not always easily visible. There are many providers in the domain industry, leading to market consolidation, and the same is true in monitoring. We are also looking forward to the next phase of the liberalisation of the new gTLDs by ICANN in 2-3 years and the use of corresponding “brand” TLDs (.audi, .buggatti, etc.).
4. How do you expect your membership in the eco Association to support you in this regard?
We look forward to gaining access to the growing eco network. We would like to exchange ideas with like-minded people and, at the same time, we offer to share our own expertise.
5. What opportunities does digitalisation offer us in the future?
Digitalisation is creating new business opportunities, while making it possible to save resources and reduce process costs.
Thank you very much!
