Increasing trust in emails and preventing phishing and spam with the help of DMARC – Lars Sandbergen, DMARC Advisor B. V. describes how this can be achieved in the eco member interview.
Lars, could you please give us a brief introduction to your company?
By helping organisations implement DMARC via our platform, we contribute to making email safer for everyone on the internet. We are proud to have a 100% guaranteed success rate with implementing DMARC with some of the largest organisations in Europe.
Which digitalisation topics are particularly important to you?
The most important digitalisation topics for us are: Cybersecurity & Data protection – Mainly focused on email security, domain security, brand protection and digital asset management.
What are the special challenges in your industry at the moment and how are you working on them?
Some challenges we face at this moment are the lack of knowledge and expertise within the DMARC niche. Implementing DMARC for many domains can be a time-consuming challenge and should never be done with haste.
How do you expect your membership in the eco Association to support you in this regard?
By being a member in the eco association we hope to spread the awareness and increase the adoption of DMARC. Phishing attacks and domain impersonation are combatted with DMARC, therefore we are the perfect candidate to enlighten the other eco association members regarding these topics. Since Google and Yahoo started requiring (bulk) email senders to authenticate their emails with open standards to fight spam and phishing, we have been at the forefront of guiding organisations to comply with these requirements. If any member of the eco association is struggling with these requirements, we are here to help.
What opportunities does digitalisation offer us in the future?
For years, “experts” have been saying that email is dead. But to date, it’s still the most used form of communication, B2B and B2C. The fact that email authentication standards are finally becoming more mandatory, we will see an increase in interest in what DMARC Advisor has to offer. Protecting your brand from impersonation is becoming more critical than ever in a digitalising world. With phishing attacks in 2023 being at an all time high, there is not a single valid reason not to protect your organisational domains with email authentication standards.
Lars, thank you very much for the interview!
