5 Questions for Kai Meinke, DeltaDAO AG

Hello Mr Meinke, we are pleased to welcome you as an eco member.

  1. Could you give us a brief introduction to your company in 2-3 sentences?

deltaDAO AG is a software development, integration and consulting company based in Hamburg. The company was founded in 2021 and focuses on solutions to enable a transparent, secure and decentralised data economy in which large companies, SMEs and public institutions retain full technical control over their private data. As specialists in distributed ledger technologies (DLT) and smart contracts, we are involved in the Gaia-X community, Gaia-X working groups, the Gaia-X Lab and Gaia-X flagship projects. Last year we published the first Minimal Viable Gaia-X (https://minimal-gaia-x.eu/) based on open-source software and Web 3.0 components.

  1. Which digitalisation topics are particularly important to you?

We are working intensively on Gaia-X, technical data sovereignty, data protection and compliance, open-source software and data governance.

  1. What are the special challenges of your industry at the moment, and how are you working on them?

Gaia-X has historically failed to meet public expectations due to a lack of real-world use case implementations and demonstrators. It was particularly difficult for SMEs, but also larger companies and public organisations, to make the immediate benefits of the European data infrastructure tangible. In collaboration with the Gaia-X community, we are working to close this major gap and implement real use cases in the Gaia-X framework. In addition, there is a lack of experience with distributed ledger technologies (DLT) and self-sovereign identities (SSI). As Web 3.0 specialists, we offer this experience through education and usable implementations.

  1. How do you expect your eco Association membership to support you in this?

eco is THE network of the digital economy and, together with the eco member companies, we can achieve more. This is especially true when it comes to building technological sovereignty in Germany and Europe. Our membership in eco promises us more value-based cooperation with industry players and the pursuit of common interests for a strong European data infrastructure.

  1. What opportunities does digitalisation offer us in the future?

Thanks to cross-competition and cross-border cooperation, we will see a renaissance of trust on the Internet in the future. The advent of decentralised data infrastructures and Web 3.0 technologies is taking transparency and security to a new level. Private and public institutions will be able to use the data as their most valuable asset without having to give up their control over the data. This means a new era of value creation for Europe and beyond.

Thank you very much for the interview, Mr Meinke!
