5 Questions for Hendric Rüsch, Superluminar GmbH

Hendric Rüsch is Managing Partner of the eco member superluminar from Hamburg. In an interview with the eco Association, he talks about what he expects from the EuroCloud Native Initiative and the entire eco Association world.

  1. Mr Rüsch, could you give us a brief introduction to your company, Superluminar?

We support companies and their teams sustainably and in partnership, within and throughout the digital transformation. Our well-coordinated team of cloud experts stands for authentic hands-on cloud consulting and the company’s focus is on the AWS (Amazon Web Services) cloud.

  1. How do you approach cloud projects and what distinguishes you from other consultancies?

Digitalisation and the use of hype technologies are not ends in themselves. As an authentic consultant and a close partner with courage and attitude, we question processes across all hierarchical levels, anticipate challenges and broaden perspectives until everyone is satisfied with the best. What might at first seem tricky actually gives the project the right impetus. Our motto is WITH instead of for our customers and partners. In following through on this, we empower them to make changes.

  1. What are the special challenges of your industry at the moment and how are you working on them?

In “The Secrets of Consulting”, Jerry Weinberg explains the Law of Raspberry Jam: “The wider you spread it, the thinner it gets.” With the pace that the hyperscaler and ISVs are setting, keeping up to speed requires focus. The all-rounders will have a hard time keeping up in terms of quality. We focus purely on AWS and, with a clear conscience, also consciously reject projects that don’t suit us (e.g. SAP on AWS). Furthermore, getting started in the cloud is still too complex for many organisations. As a result, we have launched the open-source product superwerker together with kreuzwerker GmbH.

  1. How do you expect your membership in the eco Association to support you in this regard?

We joined the eco Association through our membership of Euro Cloud Native Germany and therefore focused purely on ECN in the first few months. Our expectations are for exchanges with cloud consultancies as well as the hyperscalers, far removed from everyday work. In the meantime, we are also discovering the eco Association world bit by bit.

  1. What opportunities does digitalisation offer us in the future?

To finally free ourselves up from the fax! Seriously, German policy has only marginally advanced digitalisation over the last decade. German companies are innovative despite the framework conditions, not because of the existing opportunities. We still have a long way ahead to even be able to anticipate what opportunities will emerge. Hopefully, the eco Association can actively support the new federal government here to bring companies and thus society up to speed.

Mr. Rüsch, thank you very much for the interview!
