5 Questions for Eleonora Bellotto, Freename AG

Bringing the Web3 world together with the Web2 world – that is one of the goals of Freename AG, says Eleonora Bellotto, Head of Partnerships in the eco member interview

Eleonora, would you introduce your company in 2-3 sentences?
Freename is the leading Web3 TLDs and Domains platform where users can register and mint their own Web3 Top Level Domains (TLDs) and Second Level Domains (SLDs). People can also get Royalties and become a Registrar, generating revenue streams whenever users register domains on their TLD. Furthermore, on Freename, users can trademark their Web3 TLDs and Domains to protect their own Web3 Identity worldwide.

Which digitalisation topics are particularly important to you?
Digital Identity is certainly something we value a lot. Digital Identity is very important for establishing trust, ensuring security and protecting users’ privacy. Web3 domains represent the digital identity in the Web3 ecosystem but also in the Web2. Your domain name is your identity, because it can be used as a wallet address, to send emails, to send and receive payments, and to do many other things.

What are the special challenges in your industry at the moment and how are you working on them?
Freename is redefining the Web3 domain names industry. We are the only company to provide users with TLDs and we are launching several features and products aimed to converge the Web3 world with the Web2. One of our main goals is to let Web3 domains be usable and easily understandable by the Web2 average user.

How do you expect your membership in the eco Association to support you in this?
Being part of the largest Internet Industry in Europe is a big thing for a Web3 company! We hope that this membership will allow us not only to network and share better-known important realities in the European panorama, but also to show that Web3 companies are not all about decentralisation and that we really value human relations and the Web2 community.

What opportunities does digitalisation offer us in the future?
In the future, digitalisation has definitely the potential to foster innovation and efficiency. We hope that these developments will come with greater control and ownership for individuals over their personal digital identities, and with more secure and trustworthy digital ecosystems.
