As a new member of the eco Association since spring 2021, GECKO mbH brings over 30 years of experience in software development In an interview with the eco Association,CEO Christian Lanze talks about the sustainability potential of digitalisation, among other things.
Good afternoon Mr. Lanz, could you please give us a brief introduction to your company, GECKO?
We at GECKO believe that digital transformation simplifies business processes. We have been designing innovative solutions for 30 years with our extensive know-how of various industries and more than 100 highly qualified tech talents. Our focus since our foundation has been on consulting and development of individual software projects, application modernisation and the digitalisation of business processes.
Which digitalisation topics are particularly important to you?
Our main focus is on simplifying and digitalising all business processes in companies. In this regard, we rely on every kind of new technology available to us, such as blockchain or artificial intelligence. Cybersecurity is also high on our agenda, as it is one of the top issues with our customers.
What are the special challenges in your industry at the moment and how are you working on them?
We are currently facing two major challenges. On the one hand, our SMEs, in particular, are asking the question of what digitalisation means for their company and to what extent it must become an integral part of the existing business model. Which areas and processes are affected and what does the implementation look like? Our extensive know-how and many years of experience are particularly important for our customers. On the other hand, we are faced with the task of continuing to grow with our customers as well as recruiting and building up qualified employees. The diversification and specialization of technologies requires a high level of competence building in order to continue to offer our customers the high quality for which we are valued. We are working on this by building a strong recruiting and employer branding and by constantly training and certifying our employees.
How do you expect your membership in the eco Association to support you in this regard?
We expect to be supported in the challenge of building competences and new employees via qualified workshops and deep dive webinars, to build up extended know-how on specialised topics among our employees in this way and to participate from the experiences of other members.
What opportunities does digitalisation offer us in the future?
Digitalisation offers companies numerous opportunities in many areas today and in the future. For example, the increase in value creation through efficiency gains based on digitalisation and automation, or the simplification of production processes through networking, as well as the flexibilisation of working conditions and a significantly better work-life balance. Digitalisation also offers great opportunities in terms of environmental and climate protection and ensures a more sustainable way of life, e.g., by saving a great deal of paper and raw materials.
