Digital Business Models: New Division at eco

The turn of the year has also seen a new development at eco, where a new interdisciplinary division for the area of “Digital Business Models” has been established. Management responsibility is vested in Andreas Weiss, who has led EuroCloud Deutschland_eco as Director for eight years. With this development, the largest association of the Internet industry in Europe is pooling existing competencies, providing for stronger networking, and creating new synergies.

Entirely new approaches to value creation

“With the digitalization of established business models, new ecosystems have emerged which, enhanced by technologies such as Big Data, IoT, AI, or blockchain, enable completely new approaches to value creation,” explains Weiss.

“The studies published last year by eco on Smart City, Smart Home, and Industrial IoT testify to the enormous associated economic potential. Nonetheless, positive development is ultimately dependent on successful cooperation between different providers. We need to take a closer look at this, develop interdisciplinary concepts, and strengthen cooperation,” said Weiss.

Strengthening digital infrastructures

A further prerequisite for the new value creation processes is a good and stable infrastructure. eco represents the relevant providers and, together with them, is forging the new “Alliance to Strengthen Digital Infrastructures in Germany,” an alliance which harbors the potential to function as a model for other economies.

“So we have a lot of work ahead of us, but I am confident that the newly created eco structures will achieve a great deal for our members and for the digital industry,” says Alexander Rabe, eco Managing Director.
