News CW 25 (17.06.2024-23.06.2024)

Chat control: The vote scheduled for 20 June in COREPER II on the “Regulation on laying down rules to prevent and combat child sexual abuse” (the CSAM Regulation) was removed from the agenda at the last minute by the Belgian Council Presidency. Reportedly, the German federal government’s resolute rejection prompted other governments to also vote against the regulation. ( )

Cyber Resilience Act: The Cyber Resilience Act adopted by the European Parliament in March will take a little longer to come into effect. COREPER has announced that the regulations on security in connected products are currently in the Corrigendum Procedure.
