Protections for minors: In a statement, the EU Commission has requested several pornography platforms to provide information on their measures to protect minors and prevent illegal content. With more than 45 million users across Europe, these platforms fall into the category of very large platforms under the Digital Services Act (DSA) and are therefore obligated to take extended transparency measures. The measures include the introduction of so-called risk mitigation measures and granting researchers access to their data. (Euractiv)
Competition law: A recently announced partnership between Apple and OpenAI could lead to antitrust investigations. The partnership aims to integrate ChatGPT and other AI-based services into new iPhone operating systems. Experts see risks here for data protection and competition between providers of AI software.
