CSAM: On Tuesday, the LIBE Committee adopted its position on new measures to protect children online by preventing and stopping child sexual abuse. Inter-institutional negotiations were authorised with 48 votes in favour, 2 against and 4 abstentions. (EP)
Cybersecurity: On Wednesday, the Permanent Representatives Committee of the Member States (COREPER) reached an agreement on the Commission’s proposal for a targeted amendment of the EU’s Cybersecurity Act (CSA) of 2019. At the heart of the discussion was the definition of “managed security services”. With the Council’s agreement, the trilogue negotiations can now begin. (Council of the EU)
Data Act: Last Thursday, the vote on the Data Act took place in the European Parliament. The legislation was adopted with 481 votes in favour, 31 against and 71 abstentions. It will now need formal approval by the Council. (EP)
eIDAS: The provisional agreement on the amended eIDAS Regulation reached in the trilogue on 8 November was published in consolidated form on Thursday, 16 November. Points of contention until the last moment included matters related to the European Digital Identity Wallet (EDIW) and Art. 45a-1 concerning website certificates. (EP)
