Together Against Sexual Abuse Online – What Professionals Need to Know

  • 18 November is European Day Against Sexual Exploitation of Children
  • Hotlines of FSM, eco and jugendschutz.net offer free webinar for educational professionals, multipliers and interested parties
  • Staff from UBSKM (Independent Federal Commissioner Against Child Sexual Abuse) and ProPK (Police Crime Prevention Programme) share insights from their practical experience

Digital spaces offer many opportunities for children and young people – but at the same time, there are risks, such as sexualised violence. A webinar for educational professionals, multipliers and all other interested parties, held in recognition of the “European Day for the Protection of Children against Sexual Exploitation and Sexual Abuse”, provides practical knowledge and guidance (18 November 2025, 2:00 to 3:30 p.m.). Participation is free of charge. Registration is open until 18 November in German at https://register.gotowebinar.com/register/8286984404269496665.

The event is organised by the German hotlines (also known as complaints offices) of eco, FSM and jugendschutz.net, which, together with representatives from UBSKM (Independent Federal Commissioner Against Child Sexual Abuse) and ProPK (Police Crime Prevention Programme), will provide insights into their practical work and demonstrate what knowledge is essential for protecting children and young people online. The event will conclude with an open Q&A session, during which there will be an opportunity to ask practical questions in direct exchange with the experts and to address any uncertainties.

The “European Day for the Protection of Children against Sexual Exploitation and Sexual Abuse” was initiated by the Council of Europe in 2015. It calls on people and institutions in Europe to take action – both online and offline – against the sexual exploitation of children. FSM, eco and jugendschutz.net are partners of the German Safer Internet Centre (saferinternet.de), which is funded by the European Union. In close cooperation, they combat illegal, youth-endangering and development-impairing content in the area of child and youth protection. This includes depictions of abuse of children and young people, but also depictions of violence, hate speech and pornography. Other members of the network include “klicksafe” and “Nummer gegen Kummer”. In Germany, the hotlines work closely with the German Federal Criminal Police Office (BKA). They are also involved in INHOPE, the international network of Internet hotlines for combatting child sexual abuse material.

If you encounter illegal content or problematic content for children and young people on the Internet, you can report such online content to an Internet hotline free of charge and anonymously if desired.
