On the inauguration of the 47th President of the United States, Donald Trump, on 20 January 2024, Oliver Süme, eco Chair of the Board states:
“The USA is a strong strategic and ideological partner for Europe and Germany. With the inauguration of Donald Trump, many companies in this country fear a weakening of these transatlantic ties. It is therefore important to make it clear on both sides of the Atlantic that existing agreements are valid and, in particular, that transatlantic data exchange will continue to be possible in its current form. We should focus on the shared values and fundamental principles of our economies and societies that continue to exist, using these as the foundation for further cooperation and exchange.”
eco views a strong transatlantic alliance as a key factor in ensuring the resilience of the German economy, particularly as a driving force in innovation and digital transformation.
