eco – Association of the Internet Industry: Board of Directors Confirmed in Office

Oliver J. Süme will continue as Chair of the Board of eco – Association of the Internet Industry. The Hamburg-based lawyer and partner in the law firm Fieldfisher was unanimously re-elected on 18 June 2019 at the eco Annual General Meeting in Cologne, as were the other members of the Board, Klaus Landefeld, Felix Höger, and Professor Norbert Pohlmann.

Süme has been Chair of the Board of the Association of the Internet Industry since 2017. He sees his most important task as being that of strengthening confidence in the Internet industry and digital technologies and bringing politics and companies together in a constructive dialogue about the opportunities of digitalization: “Companies and policy-makers have a joint responsibility to make digitalization a success story and to use digital technologies for the benefit of all,” says Süme. As Süme goes on to emphasize, the label ‘Internet industry’ has long since ceased to be reserved only for the original Internet companies, and now also applies to many user industries, for example in the automotive and mobility sectors. “I see eco increasingly in the role of a strong network platform that brings companies from various sectors – as well as partners from politics, research, and civil society – together to engage in a constructive exchange with each other, in addition to moderating digital debates.”

Since 1997, Süme has been active in Hamburg as an attorney for technology and IT law, and is a partner in the international law firm Fieldfisher. Süme is also co-founder of the Hamburg Top-Level-Domain GmbH (registry for the domain “.hamburg”) andHead of the Data Protection Committee at EuroISPA, the largest provider association in the world.

The Internet entrepreneur Klaus Landefeld has represented the eco Association since 1997 as Board Member for Infrastructure and Networks, and since 2017 as Vice Chair of the Board. He is also a member of the Supervisory Board of DE-CIX Group AG.

Felix Höger is an investor and entrepreneur and represents the eco Association as Board Member for Online Services and Cloud Computing. He was formerly COO & CTO of QSC AG and founder, as well as long-standing CEO, of PIRONET NDH AG (now CANCOM PIRONET). He is Chair of the Supervisory Board of DE-CIX Group AG and also sits on the Management Board of EuroCloud Deutschland_eco e.V.

Norbert Pohlmann is Professor of Distributed Systems and Information Security in the field of IT in the Department of Computer Science, and Managing Director of the Institute for Internet-Security, at the Westfälische Hochschule Gelsenkirchen. He represents eco as Board Member for IT Security. Pohlmann is also on the Board of EuroCloud Deutschland_eco e.V. and is a member of the BMWi’s Steering Committee initiative “IT Security in Business”.
