Working Together Against Online Abuse: Results of the Abuse Workshop at Nordic Domain Days 2025

As part of the Nordic Domain Days 2025 in Stockholm, the topDNS Initiative by eco, in cooperation with iQ Global, hosted the conference’s annual Abuse Workshop. This event brought together key players from the field of Internet infrastructure, including registries, registrars, hosting providers and ISPs. The goal was to promote cross-sector collaboration in order to more effectively combat the growing complexity and scale of online abuse.

The workshop focused on concrete measures for improved coordination: from automated abuse workflows and standardised data formats such as XARF to the development of shared playbooks for effective response chains. Regulatory challenges were also discussed – particularly in the context of NIS2 and the Digital Services Act – as well as technological innovations such as AI-supported reporting systems and structured interfaces for combating abuse.

The workshop clearly showed that only through common standards, transparent communication and trust between stakeholders can the resilience of the DNS ecosystem be strengthened in the long term. Tangible progress is to be made in the workstreams of the Internet Infrastructure Forum and the topDNS Initiative by the next edition of the Nordic Domain Days.
