Digital infrastructures: Last week, the European Commission presented a set of possible actions to foster the innovation, security and resilience of digital infrastructures. Specifically, two items were presented: a White Paper entitled “How to master Europe’s digital infrastructure needs?” and a Recommendation on the security and resilience of submarine cable infrastructures. A public consultation was launched in parallel and allows stakeholders to give feedback on the published plans until 30 June 2024. (European Commission Press Release)

Social media: The European Commission opened formal proceedings against social media company TikTok for possible breaches of the Digital Services Act (DSA). Specifically, TikTok is accused of breaches in several areas, including child protection. The issue of the potentially addictive nature of social media is also to be considered in the investigation.
