The RSA in San Francisco: eco Members Discuss IT Security

Security experts and eco Association member companies took the opportunity of the RSA Conference in San Francisco to showcase “IT-Security Made in Germany”. The leading international trade fair for IT security was visited by around 42,000 security experts between 16 April and 20 April 2018. Regular topics of discussion during the event included the new EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), Artificial Intelligence, cryptography, and security in the Internet of Things.

“The trade fair clearly showed that there is no such thing as a simple all-round solution that creates complete cyber security,” says Prof. Norbert Pohlmann, eco Board Member and security expert. “To ensure a high level of IT security in the long term, what are needed are many small improvements and the know-how to choose the right solution and implement it.”

eco member companies also got involved in intensive discussions in San Francisco with representatives of the German Federal Office for Information Security (BSI). BSI President Arne Schönbohm met with companies like Hornetsecurity, Myra Security, AV-Test, and many more at the eco Dinner, which took place in conjunction with the RSA. The security experts spoke of the importance of the GDPR for German and American companies, IoT security, and the security trends at the trade fair
