“The Internet of Things is a central aspect of modern business and technological development,” emphasises eco’s Managing Director Andreas Weiss. “With Giovanni Coppa at the head of the IoT Competence Group, eco is strengthening its position as the leading association of the Internet Industry and is actively driving the development and implementation of IoT technologies. Giovanni Coppa is an experienced expert in this field, and we are delighted that he will bring his expertise and commitment to eco to strategically expand the work of the IoT Competence Group.”

Actively shaping the future of IoT

“I am very pleased to have the opportunity as the Leader of the eco IoT Competence Group to actively tackle the challenges and opportunities of the IoT to design high-performance and efficient IoT infrastructures for the future. My goal is to create an exchange platform within the competence group, where IoT players can collaborate and share experiences, especially on use cases and their implementation. This way, others can benefit from the insights and know-how gained,” says Giovanni Coppa.

The future direction of the Competence Group will focus particularly on the areas of Industrial IoT, IoT Infrastructure, and IoT Security as well as the interplay between artificial intelligence and IoT.

Extensive expertise in IoT, AI and cybersecurity

Giovanni Coppa has extensive knowledge and experience in IoT, artificial intelligence and cybersecurity. Before joining RISE, he was responsible for data centre and cloud innovation at an Internet service provider, among other roles. Within the eco Association, Coppa has already made a name for himself as Co-Head of the eco Mobility Competence Group since January 2023. He will now contribute his extensive experience and deep understanding of the challenges and opportunities of the IoT to the work of the eco IoT Competence Group.
