The perception of the cyber threat situation in German companies is alarming: 90 per cent of IT decision-makers currently consider it to be high, with 59 per cent even considering it to be very high. This is shown by a recent representative survey conducted by the market and opinion research institute Civey on behalf of eco – Association of the Internet Industry.
The increased awareness of threats reflects the growing challenges facing companies in the digital space. At the same time, it is becoming clear that cybersecurity is no longer just a technical discipline: more and more organisations are recognising that cyber resilience is a strategic task that must be actively shaped by management.
The focus is on holistic security strategies that combine technical, organisational and personnel measures. Topics such as security awareness, risk management and governance structures are just as much a part of this as the integration of innovative technologies into existing systems. The survey thus provides an important impetus: the high level of risk awareness in companies opens up the opportunity to anchor cybersecurity sustainably in corporate strategies.
Internet Security Days 2025
Against this backdrop, the Internet Security Days (ISD) industry conference on 15 and 16 September 2025 will focus on this topic. Experts from business, politics and research will discuss ‘Secure digital infrastructures – the foundation of transformation’ at the RheinEnergieSTADION in Cologne and how organisations can systematically build their resilience to cyber attacks.
*The market and opinion research institute Civey surveyed 500 IT decision-makers online on behalf of eco – Association of the Internet Industry between 25 June and 11 July 2025. The results are representative due to quotas and weightings, taking into account a statistical error of 9.2 percentage points in the respective overall result.
