eco Welcomes the Investment Plans of the German Reconstruction and Resilience Plan (DARP)

As a clear signal for a climate-friendly and digital future, eco – Association of the Internet Industry welcomes the investment plans of the German Reconstruction and Resilience Plan (DARP). “The German federal government is showing its commitment to the two major topics of the future: digitalisation and sustainability,” says eco Chair of the Board Oliver Süme.

“In doing so, the federal government is doing justice to the high significance of digital infrastructure operators, which was demonstrated not least during the Corona pandemic. Without digital infrastructures, Europe will not achieve its climate goals. It is therefore important to strengthen sustainable resilient value chains and to set targeted drivers for digitalisation and sustainability. The federal government is now taking this on board by committing 90 per cent of the expenditure envisaged in the DARP to the promotion of climate protection and the digital transformation, and in particular in the area of digital education, implementation of the federal government’s data strategy or its own Cloud IPCEI. This is a correct and important step for the future of us all,” says Süme.
