DE-CIX chose Interoute’s data centre in Madrid as an additional site for its Madrid Internet Exchange Point. Interoute’s data centre is the second enabled site of DE-CIX Madrid, increasing its attractiveness by bringing more networks to the exchange. At DE-CIX Madrid, 34 networks are already connected or in the process of connecting, 8 more have signed the contract.
The increasing traffic volume and bandwidth consumption, combined with the relentless emergence of new applications, requires the deployment of Internet exchange points at locations that are as close to end-users as possible. This shortens the distance between networks, thus improving the networks performance and quality of service. Peering at IXPs is essential for the end-users Internet experience and networking security.
Diego Matas, General Manager of Interoute Iberia, explains, “We are proud to be working very closely with a company as innovative as DE-CIX. Their choice confirms the quality and neutrality, already certified by leading international bodies, of our Madrid data centre. Further, it enables us to extend to every interested company the possibility of exchanging traffic, thus allowing their end users to enjoy a higher-quality Internet.”
