Botfrei Becomes Partner of NoMoreRansom.org Project

The eco service Botfrei.de/Botfree.eu has become a partner of the international NoMoreRansom.org project

The international initiative in the fight against ransomware, NoMoreRansom.org, was established last year by the Dutch police, Europol, Intel Security and Kaspersky Lab. Further partners include numerous authorities, IT security institutions and many companies from the IT security sector. In total, partners from more than 22 countries are participating in the project, and with the recent addition of German, the website is now available in 14 languages.

Alongside prevention tips, NoMoreRansom.org offers many different decryption programs for the removal of ransomware. The platform www.nomoreransom.org makes 40 decryption tools available free of charge. Since the last report in December, more than 10,000 victims of cyber crime have decrypted their infected devices with the help of these tools.

Botfrei.de and the international website Botfree.eu support the initiative by increasing awareness of the project in Germany and informing the victims of ransomware via the Anti-Botnet Advisory Center about the initiative’s solutions, as well as supplementing its own Ransomware Gallery with the range from NoMoreRansom.org.

The website was already available in English, Dutch, French, Italian, Portugese and Russian, and now Finnish, German, Hebrew, Japanese, Korean, Slovenian, Spanish and Ukrainian have been added. Further languages will be available in the near future.

Botfrei itself endorses the recommendation of NoMoreRansom.org never to pay a ransom to cyber criminals.
