DAT & IfA Hackathon 2026:

Data-Driven Business Models in the Automotive Aftermarket

Content & Objectives

The hackathon brings together CEOs, innovation and digitalization leaders, and key stakeholders from the automotive ecosystem to develop new data-driven business models for the automotive aftermarket.

The increasing availability of data and the use of artificial intelligence are fundamentally transforming business models and processes in retail, repair shops, and the mobility industry. At the same time, companies face the challenge of identifying and implementing concrete use cases that deliver economic benefits.

The event is designed as a two-day, practice-oriented workshop-hackathon.

On the first day, external presentations will set the stage for key market, technology, and data perspectives. Participants will then develop a long list of potential use cases, from which three to five particularly promising approaches will be prioritized.

On the second day, these use cases will be further developed and refined using simulated data, and presented in the form of initial business model and MVP concepts.

The hackathon focuses on three key questions:

  • Which data-driven use cases offer the greatest economic and strategic potential in the automotive aftermarket?
  • How can simulated live telematics data and aftermarket data be meaningfully processed, combined, and leveraged for new services?
  • What business models, platform approaches, and MVP concepts can emerge from this data?

The goal of the hackathon is to develop innovative and practical solutions to current challenges facing the automotive industry. Through collaboration among various industry players, the aim is to devise and develop new ideas, data-driven business models, and AI applications for retail and after-sales.

Target Audience

The hackathon is aimed at CEOs, sales and strategy leaders, innovation and digitalization leaders, investors, partner managers, programmers, business developers, students, researchers, and startups in the automotive, aftermarket, telematics, data economy, artificial intelligence, mobility services, and digital business models sectors.

We are particularly interested in participants with expertise or an interest in the following areas:

  • Automotive Aftermarket and Service Center
  • Telematics and Vehicle Data
  • Data Analysis, AI, and Software Development
  • Digital Platforms and Data-Driven Business Models
  • Predictive Maintenance and Vehicle Lifecycle Services
  • Mobility Data Hubs, Data Access, and Data Monetization

Taking part opens up the opportunity to collaborate with experts from business, academia, and technology to develop practical solutions for the data-driven automotive aftermarket and to actively contribute to the industry’s future business models.
